Back Up Storage
📸 Backing Up Your Photos (Made Simple!)
We all love snapping photos—but what happens if you lose your phone? 😱 That’s where automatic photo backup comes in. Both iPhone and Android have easy (and mostly free) ways to keep your memories safe in the cloud.
🍏 For iPhone Users: iCloud Photos
What people usually do: Most iPhone users let iCloud automatically save their photos. That way, even if they upgrade their phone or oops drop it in the pool, their pictures are still safe.
Is it free? You get 5GB free, which can fill up fast. Many people upgrade to a paid plan if they take tons of photos.
How to set it up:
Go to Settings ⚙️
Tap your Apple ID name (top of screen)
Choose iCloud → Photos
Turn on iCloud Photos (this makes backup automatic!)
Now every photo you snap is saved in iCloud—no extra work needed.
Please note this is a setting than can and sometimes does get turned off, intentionally or unintentionally. As a result, it is good to know why the photos are being backed up and check periodically that everything is working properly. In addition, this feature can be turned on and off by device!
🤖 For Android Users: Google Photos
What people usually do: Android users often use Google Photos—it’s easy, and works across different devices (including iPhones, actually).
Is it free? You get 15GB free (shared with Gmail + Drive). If you need more space, Google offers paid plans.
How to set it up:
Open the Google Photos app 🌈
Sign in with your Google account
Tap your profile photo (top right) → Photos settings
Choose Backup & sync and switch it ON ✅
From now on, your photos will back up automatically whenever you’re on Wi-Fi (or cellular, if you choose).
